Hoops 101 Summer Camp Parent Feedback:

"Corey had a wonderful experience with the camp. It was very organized. Corey has attended several camps over the years and the Hoops 101 camp has been the best~ hands down! Corey will defiantly attend the camp next year. The report card is a wonderful idea. Corey has taken the report card and has worked off it. Also, love the post card from the coach."

"According to our son, it was "cool". He felt there was a lot on 1:1 time and he liked how coaches didn't move on until everyone understood what they were doing. All the coaches were very positive and supportive. He definitely wants to come back next year. As a parent, I appreciated how organized everything was, from the website to on-site check-in. I have NEVER been to a B-ball camp where everything was so well-explained and organized. I was very impressed with the report card at the end of the week and that it focused on positive team and leadership skills, not just basketball skills. Our son also stated that nothing on the report card was a surprise because coaches talked to him about his strengths and areas for growth throughout the week. Suffice to say, we have bragged about the camp to numerous other families and hope to have San Marcos represented even more next year. I also LOVE that you are sending out a survey - unheard of - the customer service of Hoops 101 can't be beat. Thank you."

Summer Camp Information & History

We return to our birthplace in Dripping Springs, and continue our relationship with the YMCA. Dripping Springs has always had a special family atmosphere with the use of Volunteer Counselors and the involvement of the entire community. We are happy to be able to continue the proud Hoops tradition in Dripping Springs.

We continue to build on our successful camp at Lehman High School serving Kyle and Buda and all of South Austin, San Marcos and New Braunfels. Our Lehman camp in 2010 set a record with more than 105 campers! The news about Hoops 101 is spreading in the Kyle-Buda-South Austin areas.

We are thrilled to offer Austin High School for our third year, right in the heart of the city as our third camp location. With easy drop off and pick up right off Mopac Freeway and a central location, this allows us to bring the proven Hoops 101 formula to the rest of Austin and North Austin areas. Nearly twice as many campers attended Austin High camp in 2010 than the year before. This looks to be a very popular campsite for years to come.

Hoops 101 Basketball Camp is an exciting opportunity to improve your basketball skills in a high-energy, enthusiastic atmosphere of learning, working and teaching.

Hoops 101 is different
and that ís what makes the Hoops 101 Experience so special. We have young coaches who really do care, holistic teaching that focuses on more than just basketball skills, and a true desire on the part of the staff to be the best hoops camp in Texas.

Our staff has a combined work experience of more than 200 basketball camps over the last 11 years, gaining much insight and experience along the way without losing touch of what it takes to motivate and teach today's youth.

In order to ensure a proper camper-to-coach ratio, enrollment will be limited.

Hoops 101 Select

If you are a serious-minded player who wants to improve individually and compete at the highest level, then Hoops 101 Select is for you. Our philosophy is to improve players' individual skills while showing them how they can use those improvements within the framework of team basketball to create more opportunities for themselves and for those around them.

We want to teach the game the right way. We do not subscribe to the "roll out the ball and let 'em play" mentality taking over AAU and select basketball. We believe in the power of team and the role of each player within that team. You will learn HOW to play—not just how to run plays.

Hoops 101 Select Parent Feedback:

"As I forge through another work day, I feel a little empty. I don't know who is more disappointed in the end of the Hoops season, Matt or myself. Let me express our thanks to everyone who made this experience what it was. Special thanks to Kim Urbanus who brought this great program to our attention. As sad as I feel now, it is with great anticipation that the future of this organization and teams hold. Thanks teams and coaches for your efforts. Enjoy the rest of the summer."

"High level of communication with kids and parents. Very good balance of skills and 'attitude' training. Kids really feel they are noticed and acknowledged which builds a good feeling within the team and seems to be allowing them to "gel" very fast even though they have not been together for long."

"My son has taken pride in his contributions to this team. He has not shown this pride in any other team that he has been apart of. He is being coached true offensive and defensive strategy. Previous teams were mere street ball teams. He loves playing for the Hoops 101 team and coaches."

Hoops 101 Select Features:

  • 10-player maximum roster for each game to ensure playing opportunities.
  • Two practices per week with certified Hoops 101 coaching beginning after Spring Break.
  • A total of 30-plus team practices--60-plus hours of hands on instruction from March to July.
  • A total of 25-30 total tournament games at MAYB, AAU and AAS certified events-as much as a high school season.
  • Monthly installment payment plans and the ability to use credit cards to pay.
  • Open to boys and girls in presently in grades 7-11. If you are out of this age range, contact us. If we can have assemble a large enough group of a certain age group, we will look to make adjustments.

Hoops 101 Academies

If you want to improve your skills in a small group setting and are serious about learning more about the game, then the Hoops 101 Academy is for you. We limit the class sizes and offer a six-week package that meets once a week. Weekly classroom sessions use video from actual high school games to give players clear evidence of what to do and what not to do and how the concepts being taught play out in real games. And online quizzes and curriculum help players check for understanding when they go home.

Hoops 101 Academy Parent Feedback:

"My daughter told me she learned more about offense than she knew in the past, like how to control the ball and to race the ball."

"My son learned how to cover the court instead of just standing in one place and hope someone passes him the ball. He seems to have more confidence with techniques that will hopefully help him make the 8th grade team."

"The coaches were great with the kids. Positive yet firm and friendly. I liked that you were firm and to the point, too many times coaches want to pacify parents and that is not going to help my son be a better player."
