Hoops 101 Academy

After coaching and teaching basketball through our Hoops 101 Basketball Camps since 2000, we are excited about offering a new level and new format for learning basketball.

The Hoops 101 Academy features the same Hoops 101 approach to teaching, with the same attention to detail, but adds smaller class sizes, more individual attention, and a focus on individual improvement through two-hour intense training sessions.

Hoops 101 Academy Parent Feedback:

"My daughter told me she learned more about offense than she knew in the past, like how to control the ball and to race the ball."

"My son learned how to cover the court instead of just standing in one place and hope someone passes him the ball. He seems to have more confidence with techniques that will hopefully help him make the 8th grade team."

"The coaches were great with the kids. Positive yet firm and friendly. I liked that you were firm and to the point, too many times coaches want to pacify parents and that is not going to help my son be a better player."

Hoops 101 Academy Features:

  • Open to boys and girls in grades 4-11. Age- and skill-based grouping.
  • Depending on demand, we will notify you of final time slots a week before The Academy starts. It will either be 1:30-4 pm
  • Each athlete will receive six total 2.5 hour small group training sessions.
  • 30 minutes of classroom and video time will start 30 minutes before each on-court session.
  • The Academy will start Sunday, September 12 and end October 17.
  • Enrollment will be limited to 24 players per court--There will only be 72 total spots available. From there, we will have a waiting list.
  • More individualized instruction.
  • Sessions will focus on shooting, speed, agility quickness training, defensive tactics to help you make your team, guard and post skills, individual offensive footwork, attacking pressure with poise, and will be built to 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 and eventually, 5-on-5.

  • Video clips are organized according to terminology and concepts taught within the on-court sessions for each week.
  • This video access allows players to see real-game footage from actual high school players executing the skills being taught. It also allows us to show campers common mistakes being made in actual games so they get a better sense of context.
